All visitors of the 43rd District Court of Ferndale must abide by the following conduct rules when coming to court:
  • Prompt Appearance. You must arrive at the court at the time designated on your notice. Failure to appear at the scheduled time may result in a default judgment for civil infractions, a bench warrant for misdemeanor traffic violations or criminal matters, a dismissal if you are a plaintiff in a civil suit or a default judgment if you are a defendant in a civil suit.
  • Proper Attire. Inappropriate attire includes the following items: sleeveless shirts (e.g., tank tops), cut-off jeans or pants, hats and caps of any kind. Shoes are also required at all times.
  • Proper Behavior. Talking or making of any extraneous noise is prohibited while court is in session. As the 43rd District Court is a "court of record" that means that all proceedings are recorded. Extraneous noise or talking may interfere with the recorded testimony.
  • Prohibited Personal Belongings. A list of prohibited items is posted at the entrance to the court. All visitors to the 43rd District Court are subject to searches, both personal and personal belongings.
  • Children. Quiet children are allowed in the courtroom.
  • Food and Beverages. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the court building with food or beverages of any kind.
  • Smoking. Visitors may smoke in designated areas only. Smoking is not permitted in the courtroom or the court building.
  • Cellular Phones and Beepers. Cellular phones and beepers must be turned off when entering the courtroom.
