TRAFFIC/PARKING DIVISION

Ticket Payments

All traffic fines may be paid at the Court in the form of cash, check (no out-of-state checks), money order, debit or credit card.  The Court uses an outside agency (GPS) to process debit and credit card payments.  GPS will assess a service fee to the amount that is being charged.  The Court receives no part of that fee.  Checks or money orders are to be made payable to 43rd District Court.

You may also mail your payment to the Court or pay your fine online or place in our drop-box located outside the Police Department's (310 E. 9 Mile) front door.

Failure to submit payment for a ticket on or before the due date or hearing date, will result in a default judgment with a possible suspension of your driving privileges.

Informal Hearings

An Informal Hearing is held before the Magistrate and is not recorded.  The police officer, the Magistrate and the defendant are all present at the hearing.  If a traffic accident occurred, all witnesses are subpoenaed.

Parking Tickets

Expired meter tickets are $10 if paid within 72 hours of receiving the ticket.  After 72 hours and up to 10 days after the date of issue the fine is $25.  After 10 days a default judgment will be entered and additional fees assessed.

You may request an Informal or a Formal Hearing for your parking ticket by calling the Court.

Parking passes may be purchased at Ferndale City Hall 300 E. 9 Mile Road.

Formal Hearing

A Formal Hearing is held before the Judge and is recorded.  Attorneys are permitted but not required to represent you at a Formal Hearing.  The police officer is required to be in court, as well as any witnesses, if a traffic accident occurred.  All witness to a traffic accident will be subpoenaed by the Court.
